Lee Roach’s Max Pearmain has enlisted Tom Ordoyno to shoot the brand’s Fall/Winter 2014 campaign. The campaign, which is shot on film, focuses on the brands’ new found minimalism. The model who is unknown (named Joe), is shot in the collections traditional men’s pieces that are given a modern, quirky yet functional twist. The campaign focuses on the basics of menswear, yet shows how there is more layers to Lee Roach’s  ”basics”.

SAD WALLI Spring/Summer 2015 Lookbook by Joe Lai

SAD WALLI give us a look at their Spring/Summer 2015 collection with this simple and minimal lookbook shot by Joe Lai. Featuring Francois Canipel, the brand take the less is more approach not only with their lookbook, but also with their collection, using light-weight and airy fabrics, loose fits, and a simple and muted color palette. They don’t do too much, but do just enough. My favorite aspect of the collection definitely has to be the materials, how they wrinkle and fold, how they fall effortlessly on the body. It is perfect for the warm weather, but also a great solution to every modern man’s issue, dressing weather appropriate without looking too lazy. Here, the fabric does the job for you. Expect much more from this brand on here in the near future. Here are a few of my favorite looks up above, but you can see the full collection down below. (Source: FY!)

Jil Sander present the footwear collection from their Spring/Summer 2015 collection. As Jil Sander’s in-house design team make their last collection before Rodolfo Paglialunga’s take over of the brand, the team debuted a collection that is very much Jil Sander. True to the houses codes in every way, the brand produced a collection that was sleek and refined, but also very shapely and geometrical. All the qualities of a Jil Sander collection but of course updated. This sort of puts a stamp on it or one last reminder of what the brand became famous for, before heading into a new direction this coming Fall. Expecting new and exciting changes for sure.

Matthieu Blazy is Revealed as Head Designer for Maison Martin Margeila

image

For the first time, Margiela’s head designer has been unmasked as Matthieu Blazy. The designer who had been keeping himself anonymous for the purposes of following the Margiela narrative, was outed by none other than Suzy Menkes. Menkes decided to out the designer, with an instagram photo from backstage the Mariela couture show as proof. Margiela is the brand known as the masters of anonymity, having never placed a face on a designer. It wasn’t until 2009, that the public learned that Margiela had left the fashion house and was being designed by a “team”, a ploy that the brand is still sticking to even though Matthieu Blazy has been announced as its head. They released a statement saying:

“In light of the recent rumours regarding individual members of our design team, we ask you to remember that the long-standing communication policy of the Maison has not changed and that MMM does not communicate on any individual member of its collective, as our work is done by a team and is credited only to this same collective. This is our official spokespeople policy, and it remains our only comment on this subject.”

I wonder how Margiela are going to stick to their codes of anonymity now. Read the full article on BoF. (Photo courtesy of Lea Colombo for Dazed Digital)
