Burberry Prorsum celebrates the return of their menswear show back home to London, with a stunning and breathe taking collection during London Collections: Men. Inspired by “Writers and Painters” the Spring/Summer 2014 collection featured airy and light-weight materials. With relaxed fits, stress free coats and jackets that moved in the wind as they walked down the runway, everything from the ties, shirts, pants, and the bags, were relaxed, free of any constraints, this was definitely a collection where less was more. Jackets had relaxed shoulders, fell below the knees, completely light weight. The perfect deconstruction of the strong construction we often see in Burberry’s clothing, where everything is often strong, refined, and held together. The play with prints and patterns, as well as the juxtaposition with painterly tones and pops of color every now and then, was well done. The collection was inspired by true artists and when looking at the looks when they came down the runway, the models definitely reminded me of editors and writers in their own way. The combinations of the ties and shirts were spot on.
